Ms. Golby has sponsored legislation that supports sustainable communities such as:
- a “Complete Streets” ordinance to ensure the city considers all users of the road when repaving or designing our city streets,
- the Local Law that created Albany’s Sustainability Advisory Committee, and
- changes to our Pesticide ordinance to protect city workers, children and families.
Leah is a key member of the steering committee for the annual Upper Madison Street Fair and an active member of the Pine Hills Neighborhood Association. She has a reputation for addressing concerns promptly when contacted by neighbors and helping to point people in the right direction when they have questions.
Ms. Golby is Chair of the Common Council’s Public Safety Committee, and works to further the Community Policing philosophy of the Albany Police Department. She was recognized as an “Outstanding Public Official” by the Neighborhood Resource Center in 2011 and currently serves on the Boards of Capital CarShare and the New York Bicycling Coalition.
Leah is a progressive Democrat who was honored to be part of the Bernie Sanders delegation at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. After the convention she supported Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party's nominee for President. When she isn’t engaged in her work as a Council Member, she is employed as a grant writer for the Alliance for Quality Education, an organization that supports equity and opportunity for public school students across New York state, regardless of zip code. Leah lives on Myrtle Avenue in Pine Hills with her family.
